♥♥♥ I think we all sometimes wonder if life is taking us in the right direction. Moving with my family back HOME to Iceland has been healthy for us all. All my boys are very happy, so happy that people talk about it and I think it is doing so much for them to be so close to all our relatives. This country takes such good care of us and I have to say I love it with all my heart, it brings back this amazing sparkle in our eyes, I sometimes wonder where that sparkle comes from. It might be the air, the healthy food, the amazing water, the happy people or simply just the very special bright natural light, not to mention the northern lights?

Still there is something inside me that drives me to take off every now and then and move to other countries. Not sure what it is but it might be the challenge to learn and get to know, smell and get the feeling of what life is like somewhere else. At the age of 17 to be in Australia for a year living with some total strangers, people that hade chosen me to become a part of their family and not understanding a word they said for a few days – I loved it.

Anyway look at those amazing images. Seeing something like this drives me and makes me even hungrier for more. I love the black colour of the building and the beauty of the simplicity. A space that makes me very relaxed and brings out all my best qualities just by looking at it.

Hi! I'm Joanna and I write for Design Shuffle, an online gathering place for those who love interior design. As I was searching through various blogs, I came across When My Eyes Light Up and was very inspired and inquired about a guest post on this great blog! Also, what a wonderful name! Each of us possesses an innate creativity which yearns to break free. It can be brought to life by the most inspiring of surroundings. Even if we feel we can't paint or draw or sculpt, artist spaces evoke awe and mystery. Are you dreaming of your own artist space? We've gathered some fascinating artist studios which are sure to elicit many interior design ideas, if not artistic works.

Hell's Kitchen Design

Apartment Therapy via

A 3,700 sq foot loft in Hell’s Kitchen is turned into a wondrous space with DIY ingenuity and thirft finds. The main room, shown here, is part gallery, part work space. Love the paint speckles on the scored concrete floor, it reminds us that magical creativity is afoot.

Modern Artist Design

An artist with three children inhabits this modern space in Mexico City. The work of architect Garduño Arquitectos, the concrete structure houses an artist space with minimal furnishings but uber class.

Artist Studio Design

Be Street via

Worn brick and the most wonderful sunlight streaming in from multiple windows casts a warm glow on this studio. What would you create in this dreamy artist space? A blank canvas awaits…

Artist Bedroom Design

When not pouring her dreams into her art, the resident artist of this studio dreams away the night in a bed fit for a princess. Yards of draped and gathered fabric make the bed appear as if it is floating. An inspired bedroom design.

Loft Interior Design

Soaring ceilings, sloping walls and an enormous eyebrow window give this loft loads of personality. The seemingly endless creative space makes us green with envy.

Artist Dining Area Design

Loft Life via

Once a stable, this Brussels studio is now the live-in work space of photographer Ocvirk Kus Danica. What an amazing space, especially the swing in the dining area.

Sara Lechner Studio

Wish Studio via

Sara Lechner’s studio inspires from its beamed and vaulted ceiling to the rough hewn floor. Several work tables just beg to host creative endeavors, while slipcovered sofas beckon one to stop for tea. Inspire your own decorating ideas?

Garden Studio Design

Jetson Green via

Imagine creating works of art in an ivy-covered garden studio! Surely the interior is just as charming.

This post was composed by Design Shuffle, an interior design social network that showcases the talents of Los Angeles interior designers to New York interior designers and provides inspiration to those who love design!
